Founded in 1999 by Robert Bigelow and headquartered in North Las Vegas, Nevada, Bigelow Aerospace designed, developed, and manufactured expandable space habitat modules. The company licensed expandable habitat technology from NASA and successfully launched the Genesis I and Genesis II subscale spacecraft in 2006 and 2007, as well as the Bigelow Expandable Activity Module (BEAM), which was attached to the International Space Station. Bigelow personally funded the company to the tune of over $350 million before it ceased operations in 2020.
