Equatorial Space Systems
Singapore-based hybrid rocket propulsion and launch startup developing proprietary HRF-1 fuel technology
Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Singapore, Equatorial Space Systems develops hybrid rocket propulsion using its patent-pending HRF-1 fuel formulation, which the company claims can reduce costs by up to 90% and greenhouse gas emissions by 69% compared to traditional systems. The company conducted the first commercially developed rocket prototype test launch in Southeast Asia in December 2020. In July 2024, it secured a USD 1.5 million pre-Series A round led by Farquhar Venture Capital with participation from Paspalis, intended to fund development of Dorado sounding rockets and a static firing test facility in the Northern Territory, Australia. Equatorial Space has also signed a launch site MOU with Equatorial Launch Australia and aims to begin orbital launch services in 2026.
