German DLR spinoff developing hybrid-propellant small launch vehicles for LEO satellites and suborbital flights
HyImpulse Technologies GmbH is a German NewSpace company founded in 2018 as a spinoff from the DLR Institute of Space Propulsion in Lampoldshausen, headquartered in Neuenstadt am Kocher. The company develops hybrid rocket vehicles using paraffin wax and liquid oxygen propulsion, including the SR75 suborbital sounding rocket and the SL1 small orbital launcher targeting 500–600 kg to LEO or SSO. HyImpulse conducted a successful SR75 launch in May 2024 and operates offices in Neuenstadt am Kocher, Ottobrunn, and Glasgow.
