Japanese company developing a suborbital spaceplane for space tourism using pulse detonation propulsion
PD AeroSpace (PDAS) is a Nagoya-based space tourism company founded in 2007 by Shuji Ogawa. The company is developing a suborbital spaceplane capable of carrying two pilots and six passengers, powered by a hybrid engine combining pulse detonation jet and pulse combustion rocket modes. PDAS plans to use commercially available hardware to reduce development costs, with initial ticket prices targeted at ¥14,000,000 and eventually lowering to ¥400,000. Investors include travel company H.I.S. and airline ANA, which hold 10% and 7% stakes respectively.
