Sierra Nevada telescope hosting facility for remote imaging, satellite tracking, and space communications
Founded in 2007 and located in Auberry, California at 4,610 feet in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Sierra Remote Observatories (SRO) provides hosting infrastructure for remotely operated telescopes used in deep-sky imaging, astronomical data acquisition, satellite tracking, and space communications. The five-acre site currently hosts more than 150 telescopes and serves clients including university astronomers, space industry professionals, and astrophotographers. Site characteristics include 1 arcsecond seeing, 290 clear nights per year, gigabit fiber optic internet, and on-site technical support 365 days per year.
