Southern Stars, founded in 1993 and based in San Francisco, develops astronomy software for desktop and mobile devices and provides nano-satellite mission assistance. The company built and operated SkyCube, a crowd-funded nano-satellite that launched to the International Space Station and deployed into its own orbit in February 2014, re-entering the atmosphere in November 2014. Southern Stars also assists clients with CubeSat and nano-satellite licensing, regulatory issues, mission planning, and project management.
