Andøya Space operates rocket launch facilities and Europe's northernmost orbital spaceport from Andøya island in northern Norway. Founded in 1962 with the launch of Norway's first civilian sounding rocket, the company has supported over 1,200 suborbital launches for agencies including ESA, NASA, JAXA, and DLR. The company is 90% owned by the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Industry and 10% by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.
Andøya Space is organized into four divisions. The Spaceport division provides orbital launch facilities for polar and sun-synchronous orbits, supporting payloads up to 1,500 kg with a target capacity of 30 missions per year. Isar Aerospace conducts Spectrum launch vehicle flights from the site. The Sub-Orbital division operates sounding rocket campaigns and the ALOMAR atmospheric research observatory. The Defence division provides weapon system testing and full-scale operational training across a 25,000 square kilometer test range. The Education division delivers space-related STEM programs for students from primary school through university level. The company also operates the SvalRak launch facility at Ny-Alesund, Svalbard.
