Develops post-mission disposal devices using drag sail technology to prevent spacecraft and launch vehicle stages from becoming space debris
BULL Co., Ltd. develops post-mission disposal (PMD) devices designed to prevent satellites and launch vehicle stages from becoming orbital debris. The company's primary product, the HORN PMD device, is a large deployable drag sail that increases atmospheric drag on decommissioned spacecraft, accelerating their re-entry and preventing long-term debris accumulation in orbit. Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, the company operates a European subsidiary based in Paris, France. BULL has established partnerships with Arianespace to demonstrate the HORN device on the Ariane 6 Dual Launch System, with flight testing targeted for 2027. The company also collaborates with XDLINX Space Labs for satellite-integrated PMD demonstrations and MAITY Space for combined collision avoidance and disposal solutions. BULL is registered as a JAXA Partner Startup and was selected for the J-SPARC innovation partnership program. In addition to debris prevention hardware, the company develops microgravity experimental satellites and devices for orbital utilization. The company completed a seed funding round in November 2025 led by Frontier Innovations with participation from Tokio Marine.
