Develops hybrid-propellant launch vehicles, a modular satellite bus, and operates Australia's first licensed orbital spaceport
Gilmour Space Technologies is an Australian aerospace company building end-to-end sovereign space infrastructure spanning rockets, satellites, and launch facilities. Its flagship Eris launch vehicle uses hybrid-propellant engines to deliver small satellite payloads to low Earth orbit from the company's Bowen Orbital Spaceport in North Queensland — Australia's first licensed commercial orbital launch site. Eris completed its inaugural launch attempt in July 2025, reaching flight for 14 seconds before an engine anomaly; the company is preparing return-to-flight in 2026.
Alongside launch services, Gilmour manufactures the ElaraSat modular satellite platform (100 kg class), which successfully operated on orbit after a June 2025 rideshare deployment on SpaceX. The company also offers a Hyperflight suborbital testing service.
Founded in 2013 on the Gold Coast by brothers Adam and James Gilmour, a January 2026 Series E round of A$217 million made Gilmour Space Australia's first space-technology unicorn. Proceeds fund Eris qualification, satellite and rocket manufacturing scale-up, and spaceport expansion.
