Interstellar Technologies
Japanese rocket and satellite company developing small launch vehicles and constellation satellites
Interstellar Technologies, founded in 2013 and headquartered in Taiki-cho, Japan, builds small launch vehicles and smallsats. Its primary rocket program is ZERO, a launch vehicle designed for small satellites, with component testing including gas generator combustion and gimbal performance trials conducted through the early 2020s and a dedicated launch site that broke ground in 2022. The company also announced development of DECA, a larger rocket aimed at domestic satellite constellation deployment. On the satellite side, it is pursuing high-precision formation flying technology and conducted ground experiments demonstrating that multiple satellites can be combined into a high-performance array antenna. Both the satellite formation flying program and a separate SBIR-backed project passed government stage-gate reviews in early 2026.
