Iris Technology builds cryocooler control electronics, focal plane interface electronics, and tactical power systems
Founded in 1986 in Irvine, California, Iris Technology designs and manufactures electronics and power systems for defense and aerospace customers. Its core space products include Cryocooler Control Electronics, which manage cryogenic cooling hardware like the Thales LPT 6510, and Focal Plane Interface Electronics that handle high-speed image acquisition and real-time processing for infrared imaging arrays up to 8k×8k. The company's FPIE systems support Space Development Agency programs for space situational awareness and missile warning. In 2023, Iris collaborated with the Air Force Research Laboratory and Coherent on the ORACLE program, extending imaging capability into cislunar space. Its CCE hardware also appears in NASA's COSI mission. On the tactical side, the company has supplied power systems to the U.S. military since the late 1990s, including the QP-1800 inverter line. Iris holds CMMC Level 2 certification, reflecting its posture as a supplier to classified government programs.
