Russian-Ukrainian commercial launch provider converting decommissioned SS-18 ICBMs into the Dnepr orbital launch vehicle
ISC Kosmotras (International Space Company Kosmotras) is a joint stock company founded in 1997 by Russia and Ukraine to repurpose decommissioned R-36M (SS-18 "Satan") intercontinental ballistic missiles as the Dnepr commercial launch vehicle under arms reduction agreements. Headquartered in Moscow, the company conducted launches from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan and the Yasny launch base at Dombarovskiy, Russia. The Dnepr rocket was capable of deploying multiple small satellites on rideshare missions, and customers included Iridium, which signed a contract with Kosmotras for Iridium NEXT launches in 2011.
