NEC Space Technologies makes satellite payload and bus equipment for spacecraft programs worldwide
NEC Space Technologies, Ltd. is a Tokyo-based subsidiary of NEC Corporation that develops, manufactures, and tests equipment for satellites and rockets. Its product line covers both payload and bus hardware, including Ka-band low-noise amplifiers, GaN solid-state power amplifiers across L-, S-, and X-band, GPS receivers, solar array panels, telemetry transmitters, and command receivers. The company supplies equipment to JAXA and to satellite manufacturers globally, with its hardware flying on broadcast and communication satellites across the world. Originally part of NEC Corporation's space division, it became a subsidiary in 2001 under the name NEC TOSHIBA Space Systems Ltd., then was restructured and renamed NEC Space Technologies when NEC took full ownership in 2015. NEC itself has roots in Japanese satellite communications dating to the 1960s, when its receiver hardware supported Japan's first satellite earth station and contributed to early transpacific television experiments during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
