Observable Space was formed in February 2025 through the merger of PlaneWave Instruments, a telescope hardware manufacturer, and OurSky, a telescope software company. Headquartered in Los Angeles, the company offers integrated hardware, software, and a turnkey laser communications platform for commercial, government, science, and education customers including NASA, the U.S. Space Force, Northrop Grumman, and academic institutions. The company has raised a $90 million Series A and holds a $94 million U.S. Space Force contract, and collaborated with Quantum Opus to enable HD video for NASA's Artemis II mission via space-to-ground laser links.
