OpenC3
Command and control software for satellites and embedded systems, built on the open-source COSMOS platform
OpenC3 makes COSMOS, a command, control, and communication platform used for integration and test of satellites and components and for post-launch operations. The software connects and controls suites of embedded hardware, scaling from single-device test benches to satellite constellations. COSMOS was originally developed at Ball Aerospace, open-sourced in 2014, and now carries roughly two decades of heritage. OpenC3 was founded in 2022 by the creators of that original Ball Aerospace tool to give COSMOS dedicated development. The platform ships in an open-source core edition and a commercial Enterprise tier, with an App Store of pre-built plugins and support for integrations including MAVLink for drones and OpenTelemetry for observability pipelines.
