Reflect Orbital
Builds and operates a constellation of orbital mirror satellites that redirect natural sunlight to targeted areas on Earth for extended solar energy generation and on-demand illumination
Designs and builds satellites that beam solar energy from geosynchronous orbit to ground-based solar projects using near-infrared light
Overview Energy develops satellites that capture continuous sunlight in geosynchronous orbit and transmit it as near-infrared light to ground-based solar projects on Earth. The system uses commercially available photovoltaic cells with concentrators, laser diode modules, and optical arrays to convert solar energy into a wide, low-intensity beam safe for humans, animals, and aircraft. The beam targets existing utility-scale solar installations, enabling around-the-clock power generation without additional land or infrastructure. Overview Energy completed an airborne power-beaming demonstration in 2025, transmitting energy from a moving aircraft to a ground receiver five kilometers below, and is working toward a low Earth orbit demonstration in 2028 followed by geosynchronous deployment. Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Ashburn, Virginia, the company has raised $18.5 million in funding and signed an MOU with ACWA Power in the Middle East.
