QEYnet

QEYnet, founded in 2016 and headquartered in Vaughan, Ontario, develops space-based quantum key distribution (QKD) systems using a microsatellite constellation to enable globally available, unconditionally secure key exchange. The company delivered its first free-space QKD system to the National Research Council of Canada in December 2024. In January 2025, the Canadian Space Agency awarded QEYnet a space technology demonstration mission to carry out an orbital demonstration of its QKD technology. QEYnet was co-founded by spacecraft engineers and quantum communication experts, with its QKD payload technology originating from the University of Waterloo's Institute for Quantum Computing.
