RTX
Aerospace and defense conglomerate making aircraft engines, avionics, missiles, air defense systems, and satellites
RTX Corporation was formed in April 2020 when United Technologies Corporation merged with Raytheon Company, after UTC first spun off its Otis and Carrier divisions. The combined company operates through three subsidiaries: Collins Aerospace handles aircraft systems and avionics, Pratt & Whitney builds jet engines including the F135 Engine Core Upgrade for military aircraft, and Raytheon produces defense systems including guided missiles and radar. The U.S. government is its primary customer. Raytheon's lineage traces to 1922, when Laurence K. Marshall, Charles G. Smith, and Vannevar Bush founded the American Appliance Company in Cambridge, Massachusetts, initially to commercialize electronics for radios. The company renamed itself RTX Corporation in July 2023 and is headquartered in Arlington, Virginia.
