Satmex
OPERATING
Mexican satellite operator providing C-band and Ku-band communications services across the Americas (1997–2014)
Satélites Mexicanos (Satmex) was a Mexico City-based commercial satellite operator founded in 1997 that provided broadcast, telephone, and telecommunications services to 37 countries across the Americas. The company operated three satellites—Satmex 5, Satmex 6, and Satmex 8—at contiguous orbital positions covering approximately 90% of the Americas' population in C-band and Ku-band. In January 2014, Eutelsat acquired 100% of Satmex's share capital for $831 million, after which the three satellites were transferred to Eutelsat's operations.
