Satrec Initiative is a South Korean satellite manufacturer headquartered in Daejeon, founded in 1999 by engineers who developed the country's first satellite, KITSAT-1. The company designs, builds, and operates Earth observation satellites, developing all key subsystems in-house including electro-optical payloads, star trackers, sun sensors, and Hall-effect electric propulsion. Its SpaceEye series ranges from the 100 kg-class SpaceEye-W to the SpaceEye-T with 30 cm optical resolution. Satrec Initiative has delivered systems to customers in Malaysia, the UAE, Turkey, Singapore, and Spain. The company trades on KOSDAQ and is 36% owned by Hanwha Aerospace, with subsidiaries covering imagery distribution, AI-powered geospatial analytics, and radiation monitoring.
