OPERATING

Italian company building small satellites, Hall effect thrusters, and electronics for space missions

ABOUT

SITAEL, founded in 1994 and headquartered in Mola di Bari, Italy, builds small satellite platforms, plasma electric propulsion systems, and onboard electronics for Earth observation, telecom, and science missions. It handles the full satellite lifecycle in-house, from design through integration to in-orbit operations via its own mission control center, and can integrate satellites in series for constellations in the 50 to 500 kg range. Its Electric Propulsion Department develops Hall effect thrusters on proprietary technology and operates Europe's largest space simulator. The electronics portfolio covers OBCs, TT&C systems, PCDUs, solar arrays, battery packs, and AOCS hardware, alongside radiation-hardened integrated circuits developed at its Microelectronics Design Center. The company also operates an EMC test facility with a 100 cubic meter chamber capable of testing complete satellites with deployed appendages up to 12 meters in span. SITAEL is part of Angel Holding and has a subsidiary, SITAEL Hellas, operating in Greece.
