Space Kidz India
Space education company that builds satellites with students across India
Space Kidz India, founded by Dr. Srimathy Kesan and based in Chennai, organizes students to design and build small satellites and conduct aerospace experiments. The company's most visible work is the AzaadiSAT program: AzaadiSAT-1, a 8U cubesat built with contributions from 750 girl students from government schools across India, flew aboard ISRO's SSLV-D2 in 2023 after the first attempt in 2022 suffered a data loss in the final phase. AzaadiSAT-2 followed on the same vehicle's second demonstration flight. Beyond satellite hardware, Space Kidz India has facilitated high-altitude balloon missions abroad, including Mission Payanke, which put Seychelles' first balloon satellite into the air with UNESCO funding. The organization holds MOUs with IN-SPACe and has worked with the Moscow Aviation Institute, and its founder became the first Indian woman to experience zero-gravity flight.
