Manufactures satellite communication payloads and laser inter-satellite link terminals, with equipment aboard more than half of all communication satellites in orbit

ABOUT

Tesat-Spacecom is a German satellite communications equipment manufacturer headquartered in Backnang, Baden-Württemberg. A subsidiary of Airbus, the company develops, assembles, integrates, and tests payloads, subsystems, and components for satellite communications. Tesat has completed nearly 1,000 space projects since 1949, and its RF products have accumulated over one billion operating hours in orbit. More than half of all communication satellites carry Tesat equipment. The product portfolio spans passive assemblies such as multiplexers and waveguide switches, active products including solid-state power amplifiers, data downlink transmitters, and its SCOT family of scalable optical communication terminals. Tesat pioneered laser inter-satellite link technology and has performed over 85,000 successful optical transmissions, supporting programs including ESA's European Data Relay Satellite Service, the Copernicus Earth observation program, and U.S. GPS demonstrations.
