Volta Space Technologies
Building a lunar energy grid via power-beaming satellites in lunar orbit
Volta Space Technologies (formerly Eternal Light Photonics, founded 2019–2020) develops wireless power transmission technology for space applications, with a focus on building a lunar energy utility that beams optical power from satellites in lunar orbit to surface robots and landers. The company has set a world record for power-over-fiber delivery over one kilometer, demonstrated battery-free drone operations at -40°C for 2.5 hours, and has a LightPort system manifested for a lunar mission through a collaboration with Firefly. Volta has also been selected for the NATO DIANA accelerator, a Dcubed LEO power-beaming demonstration mission, and has a joint agreement with ispace US to develop a 'Survive the Night' capability for lunar missions.
