Volta Space Technologies develops wireless power beaming systems to enable a lunar energy utility from orbit
Volta Space Technologies, founded in 2020 and headquartered in Montreal, Canada, develops wireless power transmission hardware and software to beam energy from lunar orbit to surface assets such as landers and rovers. The company's LightPort technology and power-over-fiber systems are aimed at breaking the 14-day lunar night constraint that limits mission lifetimes. Volta has been selected for the NATO DIANA accelerator, a Dcubed power beaming LEO demo mission, and a collaboration with ispace US on a "Survive the Night" lunar capability, with a first LightPort unit manifested to fly to the Moon via Firefly.
