Develops a partially reusable methane-fueled mini-launcher for small satellite delivery to low Earth and sun-synchronous orbits
MaiaSpace designs, manufactures, and will operate the Maia rocket, a two-stage partially reusable mini-launcher fueled by liquid bio-methane and liquid oxygen. The vehicle stands 50 meters tall and is powered by four Prometheus engines — three on the main stage and one on the upper stage. In expendable configuration, Maia delivers 1,500 kg to sun-synchronous orbit; in reusable mode with first-stage vertical landing on a sea barge, it delivers 500 kg. An optional Colibri kick stage increases capacity to 2,500 kg expendable. Founded in 2022 as a subsidiary of ArianeGroup, MaiaSpace is headquartered in Paris with manufacturing and test facilities in Vernon, Normandy, targeting first orbital operations in 2027 from the Guiana Space Centre.
