Designs, manufactures, and launches small-lift orbital rockets powered by single-piece 3D-printed semi-cryogenic engines for dedicated small-satellite missions.

About

Agnikul Cosmos designs, manufactures, and launches orbital-class rockets for micro and nano satellites. Founded in 2017 and headquartered at the IIT Madras Research Park in Chennai, the company produces the Agnibaan family of two-stage launch vehicles capable of placing up to 500 kg into a 700 km sun-synchronous orbit in its fully expendable configuration, with lighter payload variants supporting 100-300 kg to LEO.

The company's core technology is the Agnilet and Agnite series of semi-cryogenic engines, each 3D-printed as a single piece from Inconel using an additive manufacturing process that eliminates traditional multi-part assembly. Agnibaan uses a modular clusterable architecture that allows the number of engines to be matched to payload mass, supported by in-house avionics, autopilot software, and propulsion components.

Agnikul operates India's first private launchpad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota and has developed a mobile launchpad designed for deployment at mission-optimal latitudes. The company completed its first suborbital flight in May 2024 with the Agnibaan SOrTeD vehicle and is preparing for its first orbital mission. Additional offices are located in Thiruvananthapuram and Denver.
