Katalyst Space Technologies
Builds robotic spacecraft and modular payloads for in-space servicing, satellite upgrades, and space domain awareness
Develops space robotic systems for in-orbit servicing, satellite assembly, and lunar infrastructure construction
GITAI develops space robotic systems designed to reduce the cost of space operations. The company's product line includes the Inchworm Robot, a modular robotic arm with grapple end-effectors on both ends for in-orbit servicing, assembly, and manufacturing tasks; the R1 lunar rover for surface infrastructure construction and resource operations; and an in-house developed satellite bus demonstrated with its 16U SC1 cubesat. GITAI completed a successful robotic arm demonstration inside the ISS in 2021 and outside the ISS in 2024, achieving TRL 7 in both pressurized and unpressurized environments. Founded in Tokyo in 2016, the company relocated its headquarters to Torrance, California in 2023. GITAI holds contracts with DARPA, NASA, JAXA, and Toyota, and established GITAI Defense and Space LLC in 2025 to pursue U.S. government prime contracts. The company was awarded a position on the Missile Defense Agency's SHIELD IDIQ program in late 2025.
