MDA Space designs, manufactures, and operates satellite systems, orbital robotics, and geointelligence platforms. The satellite systems division produces the Aurora software-defined satellite bus and serves as prime contractor for the Telesat Lightspeed and Globalstar next-generation constellations. The robotics division builds the Skymaker family of modular systems and is prime contractor for Canadarm3 on NASA's Lunar Gateway. The geointelligence division operates RADARSAT-2 and is developing the CHORUS next-generation SAR constellation.
Founded in 1969, MDA was reconstituted as a standalone Canadian company in 2020 and went public on the Toronto Stock Exchange in 2021. MDA reported FY2025 revenue of $1.6 billion with a backlog of $4 billion. In 2025, MDA acquired SatixFy Communications for space-grade chip integration. In early 2026, MDA launched 49North, a defence subsidiary focused on multi-domain C4ISR capabilities.
