Muon Space
Designs, builds, and operates mission-tailored LEO satellite constellations for Earth observation, climate monitoring, and national security applications
Muon Space designs, builds, and operates low Earth orbit satellite constellations optimized for Earth observation and signals intelligence missions. Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Mountain View, California, the company provides an end-to-end constellation-as-a-service offering through its Muon Halo platform, which integrates the MuSat spacecraft bus, MuCore flight electronics, MuSim digital engineering environment, and MuOS operating system. The company manufactures two satellite platforms: MuSat, a smallsat-class bus for Earth observation and RF missions, and MuSat XL, a 500 kg-class spacecraft for higher-power payloads including telecommunications and multi-sensor configurations.
Muon Space builds the FireSat constellation for the Earth Fire Alliance in partnership with Google Research, deploying multispectral infrared instruments capable of detecting wildfires as small as 5x5 meters. The company also manufactures Vindler 2.0 satellites for Sierra Nevada Corporation's RF geolocation constellation. In 2025, Muon acquired propulsion startup Starlight Engines and opened a 130,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in San Jose. Customers include the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Space Force, Hydrosat, Hubble Network, and Sierra Nevada Corporation.
