Planet Labs PBC designs, manufactures, and operates a vertically integrated fleet of small satellites to provide daily Earth observation data. The company's core constellation includes hundreds of SuperDove satellites that deliver 8-band multispectral imagery at 3-meter resolution via the PlanetScope monitoring service. Planet also operates SkySat satellites for high-resolution tasking at 50-centimeter resolution and is deploying its next-generation Pelican constellation, which is designed for rapid revisit times and 30-centimeter resolution. These space systems are built in-house at the company's automated manufacturing facility in San Francisco, California, supported by global operational centers in Berlin and Washington D.C.

The company provides imagery and geospatial insights through its Planet Insights Platform, serving a subscription-based Data-as-a-Service model for agriculture, defense, and government sectors. In 2024, Planet expanded into hyperspectral imaging with the launch of Tanager-1, developed in partnership with the Carbon Mapper Coalition to monitor greenhouse gas emissions. Beyond data licensing, the company provides satellite manufacturing services, including a major contract to build a Pelican-based constellation for an international customer. Planet Labs is a public benefit corporation trading on the NYSE under the ticker PL and holds strategic contracts with agencies including the National Reconnaissance Office and NASA.
