PierSight

PierSight develops and operates a constellation of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and automatic identification system (AIS) satellites purpose-built for persistent maritime surveillance. Founded in 2023 in Ahmedabad, India, the company designs its satellites in-house, combining X-band SAR imaging with AIS ship-tracking payloads for all-weather, day-and-night ocean monitoring. Its Varuna satellite platform uses a software-defined radio and radar architecture, and the MATSYA analytics platform fuses SAR imagery with AIS vessel data for actionable maritime intelligence. PierSight was selected to provide the sovereign SAR backbone for India's first public-private partnership Earth observation constellation.
