Builds and operates hyperspectral imaging microsatellites for mineral exploration, agriculture, and defense applications
Esper Satellite Imagery develops and operates hyperspectral imaging microsatellites that detect mineral deposits and chemical compositions on Earth's surface from orbit. Founded in 2019 in Melbourne, the company captures data across hundreds of spectral bands in the visible and near-infrared range at approximately 30-meter spatial resolution, enabling identification of lithium, rare earth elements, cobalt, and other critical minerals. Esper serves customers in mining, agriculture, defense, and environmental monitoring, with over $32 million in bookings secured to date. The company launched its first satellite, Over The Rainbow-1, in March 2024, and its OTR-2 near-infrared sensor reached orbit in August 2025 on Dhruva Space's LEAP-1 mission. Esper is building the Four Leaf Clover constellation, targeting 18 hyperspectral sensors in orbit by 2029. Its EarthTones platform provides direct tasking and data delivery to exploration teams. The company has raised A$5 million in seed funding.
