Develops solid and liquid-fueled launch vehicles including the Hyperbola series, with China's first privately-built orbital rocket and a reusable methane rocket in development.
About
i-Space (星际荣耀 / Interstellar Glory) is a Chinese commercial launch company founded in 2016 and headquartered in Beijing. The company became the first privately funded Chinese firm to reach orbit in July 2019 with its four-stage solid-fueled Hyperbola-1 (SQX-1), a small-lift vehicle delivering 300 kg to low Earth orbit for sun-synchronous missions.
The company's flagship development program is the Hyperbola-3 (SQX-3), a two-stage partially reusable rocket powered by nine Focus-2 (焦点二号) liquid oxygen/methane engines. Designed to carry 8,500 kg to LEO in reusable mode or 14,000 kg expendable, the Hyperbola-3 features sea-based first-stage recovery using China's first autonomous rocket recovery vessel, Xingji Guihang, with maiden orbital flight targeted for 2026 from the Wenchang Commercial Space Launch Site.
