Intelsat
Operates the world's largest GEO satellite backbone delivering broadband, media, and mobility connectivity across 200+ countries via multi-orbit infrastructure
Founded in 1964 as the first commercial satellite communications provider, Intelsat built the world's largest integrated satellite and terrestrial network, operating approximately 50 GEO satellites across C-band, Ku-band, and Ka-band frequencies complemented by the IntelsatOne fiber backbone. The company serves broadcasters, airlines, maritime operators, telecommunications carriers, and government agencies in more than 200 countries through product families including FlexMaritime, FlexMove, FlexEnterprise, FlexExec, and Managed Media. After emerging from Chapter 11 restructuring in 2022, Intelsat was acquired by SES S.A. in July 2025 for approximately $3.1 billion, creating a combined operator with 120 GEO and MEO satellites. Intelsat continues to operate as a brand within SES, headquartered in McLean, Virginia.
