Eutelsat OneWeb subsidiary operating a 600+ LEO satellite constellation for global broadband internet
Eutelsat OneWeb, formerly WorldVu Satellites, is a subsidiary of the Eutelsat Group providing broadband internet services via a low Earth orbit satellite constellation. Founded by Greg Wyler in 2012, the company launched its first six satellites in February 2019 and reached a 618-satellite constellation providing global coverage by March 2023. Satellites are manufactured through Airbus OneWeb Satellites, a joint venture with Airbus Defence and Space operating facilities in Florida and Toulouse. The company previously filed for bankruptcy in March 2020 before emerging under new ownership in November 2020 and was fully merged into the Eutelsat Group in September 2023.
